Petropoulos Begins Season At Lanier Speedway

(Atlanta, GA) - April 8, 2003 - In last Saturday night's season opener at Lanier Speedway, 24-year old Peter Petropoulos qualified 17th for the Battle Paint and Drywall Budweiser Pro Late Model 50-lap event. Petropoulos had the fastest car in practice but due to an infraction by one of his crewmembers was only allowed one lap for his qualifying effort.

Petropoulos quickly overcome the obstacle and by lap 26 was running 6th as he steadily passed slower cars in the field. The #28 Battle Paint and Drywall Chevrolet got under the #45 of Dwayne Buggay in turn 2 and the two cars got together resulting in a spin for Buggay. Both drivers were then sent to the rear of the field for the restart. Petropoulos resumed his charge to the front as the laps wound down and was able to regain position to finish the race 15th.

Driving a Port City chassis prepared by veteran short track driver Wayne Willard, Petropoulos said his No. 28 will begin running in the lead pack frequently. "The car is there and I overcame a lot tonight as a young driver," " said Petropoulos. "Sponsor-wise, it was what we needed and coming from the back to the front created a lot of excitement for the fans."

Peter Petropoulos and his Battle Paint and Drywall sponsored team will be back in action on Saturday April 12 at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton. Prior to the Pro Late Model feature event that evening, fans will be allowed to enter the frontstretch for autographs. Fans are reminded to stop by and visit with Petropoulos and the entire #28 crew.
