Petropoulos Goes Back To Work This Week At Lanier National Speedway

With the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series taking the weekend off at Lanier National Speedway, Pro Late Model driver Peter Petropoulos of Flowery Branch enjoyed watching Saturday night's action at the .375 mile oval in Braselton.

The 24-year old Petropoulos hopes to one day join the ranks of drivers such as Rusty Wallace, Johnny Benson, Alan Kulwicki, and Johnny Sauter.

Following the rare off-weekend, Petropoulos goes back to work this week with a test session at Lanier National Speedway and a speaking engagement at a metro Atlanta-area school on his agenda.

Petropoulos will turn laps in his No. 28 Battle Paint and Drywall Chevrolet mid-week in preparation for the Saturday May 3 Pro Late Model feature at Lanier. He will also participate in the Race Against Drugs (RAD) program on Friday May 2 at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Brockett Elementary in Tucker.

"We're going to go there and talk to the young kids about staying away from drugs and alcohol," said Petropoulos. "And, we're going to encourage them to stay close to their family. Decisions the kids make now will effect them for the rest of their life."

In addition to speaking to the elementary age students, Petropoulos will bring along his No. 28 Pro Late Model and a crew member.
