Petropoulos excited about Birmingham
run
by Allen Hastings, ZR Motorsports
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Flowery Branch, Georgia's
Peter Petropoulos headed to Alabama this past
weekend to compete in the Southern All-Stars Annual Neil Bonnett Memorial
World Classic at the historic Birmingham International Raceway.
Petropoulos normally competes on the tracks in the state of Georgia
but decides to give the 90 year old speedway a shot.
"We had gotten some backing from D. Brooks Welding and
Bending, a Birmingham company, and
decided to run the 100 lap Pro Late Model event at BIR," said
Petropoulos. "I realize the rich history of BIR and what a special
place it is," adds Petropoulos.
Petropoulos had to back off a little toward the end of the race due
to overheating and was able to finish 5th in the 100 lap feature in the
Buford Plumbing, D. Brooks Welding and
TeamZR.com #28 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. "I had a great time racing
there. I really like the track and look forward to possibly going back
there in November to compete with the Southern All-Stars again," said
Petropoulos.
The team hopes to run at Lakeland, Florida's USA
International Speedway and Alabama's
Montgomery Motor Speedway in the month of October. Check out the ZR
Motorsports website at www.teamzr.com.
