2003 ZR Motorsports News Cut Tire Costs Petropoulos Top-Ten Finish At Lanier National Speedway (Atlanta, GA) May 5, 2003 - For the second consecutive week, Peter Petropoulos of Flowery Branch saw a flat tire spoil a solid run in his Battle Paint and Drywall Chevrolet in the Pro Late Model division at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton. After qualifying 15th on Saturday, Petropoulos climbed to 10th-place by lap nine. Moments later, a cut tire erased any opportunity for a top-ten run forcing Petropoulos to settle for a 19th-place finish. "Two races in a row and two flat tires," said Petropoulos. "The car is fast. I'm capable of driving it and having a good run but for whatever reason, luck isn't falling our way." After posting a season-best fourth place finish on April 12, the 24-year old will be looking another top-five run in the Pro Late Model 50-lap feature at Lanier on Saturday May 10. Petropoulos continued his participation in the Race Against Drugs (RAD) program during a visit to Brockett Elementary in Tucker on Friday May 2. He explained the negative ramifications of drug use to the student body who were given an opportunity to see his No. 28 Chevrolet up close. "It was very exciting," said Petropoulos. "I spoke to over 200 kids and they were very receptive. The race car was what got their attention, but my message is what I wanted them to hear.
