Petropoulos Continues To Preach Off The Track

by Chris Knight - ZR Motorsports

ATLANTA, GA (October 3, 2005) — While he is a superstar on the racetrack, he’s a bigger one off the track. NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series driver Peter Petropoulos is preparing for a busy October while his 2005 racing season begins to draw to a close. Petropoulos, one of the biggest advocates for teens in NASCAR late model history will speak at a number of local area schools as his contribution for Red Ribbon week.

During the week of October 23rd to October 31st, 2005, Peter is scheduled to speak at Pharr Elementary School in Snellville, Georgia, and Kilough Elementary School in Dawsonville with several other schools scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks.

Peter Petropoulos is a passionate advocate of a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free lifestyle. He takes advantage of the exposure he receives through his racing career to spread his message "Winners Don't Use Drugs!"

"Red Ribbon week is very important to me," said Petropoulos, who pilots the No. 28 Edy’s Ice Cream Chevrolet Monte Carlo weekly at Lanier National Raceway. "I’ve been doing this program and spreading my word for several years now and this year is no different."

"There are a lot of talented kids in this state and if they stay away from drugs and alcohol and choose a tobacco-free lifestyle, their futures are bright, much brighter than they think."

As for his 2006 racing plans, Petropoulos is optimistic. "We’re trying to put some deals together. It would be nice to move up into the ARCA RE/MAX Series or NASCAR Busch Series, but patience is the name of the game. Right now, we’re running fairly well in the NASCAR Dodge Series and have a great sponsor in Edy’s Ice Cream. My focus is to them right now, we’ll think about next year when it draws closer."

In addition to running in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series, Petropoulos also competes in the Southern All-Star Racing Series and Georgia Asphalt Series.
