Peter Petropoulos Ready For Special Weekend At Lanier
"Late Model Veteran Continues To Turn Heads"

Braselton, GA (Thursday, August 14th, 2003) - Lanier National Speedway late model driver Peter Petropoulos has had an impressive season thus far at the NASCAR sanctioned facility, but this weekend Petropoulos hopes to roar to another win in the Battle Paint & Drywall Pack The Track Fan Appreciation Night.

For Petropoulos, Saturday will be an extremely important race not only for himself, but his Battle Motorsports team as well. The title sponsor of the event is also the primary sponsor of the No. 28 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which is piloted by Peter.

"We have huge expectations heading into the race this weekend," said Peter. "This race is mainly for the fans, but plays a huge importance to our team as Battle Paint & Drywall are our primary sponsors," he added.

"We're proud to be associated with such a great organization at Battle Paint & Drywall, and I hope we bring them everything that they are looking for on Saturday," explained Peter.

The 25-year-old driver had a rough outing in last week's event, as the No. 42 of Tony Bennett tapped the Dacula, GA native sending him around and costing the team another top ten finish. It was a heartbreaker for the team as started on the pole and led a dominating 33 laps. "It's a shame that we had a bad race last weekend, however this team is great, and our sponsors are backing us fully, we'll bounce back, we always do."

The team will hope to rebound and score their third win of the season, as earlier this season they scored a victory in the NASCAR touring series and another victory in the Southern All Star Southeast Touring Series. The team also hopes to thrown another pole into the picture, as the team has four smashing pole runs already in 2003.

Does the former WKA (World Karting Association) National Champion feel any pressure heading into this weekend's race?

"Sure, there is always pressure involved, when it comes to racing, from sponsors, to the teams, and even to the fans, you try to make everyone happy, but I'm just thankful I'm able to race every weekend."

The evening will feature all weekly divisions including a pair of 25 lap races from the Budweiser Pro Late Models. "We've got two segments, and our goal is to take the checkered flag in both events," mentioned Peter.

"We want to walk out of Lanier Speedway Saturdays as winners, that's been our goal from the beginning of the season, we've got the equipment, we've got the crew, and I know we've got the driver, we just need a little luck on our side."

Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday with Legends heats getting the green flag at 5:20 p.m. Pepsi qualifying rolls at 6 p.m. Features begin at 7 p.m.

Lanier National Speedway is located just northeast of Atlanta on Hwy 53, exit 129 on Interstate 85 and Exit 16 on Interstate 985. For more information on LNS, call 770-967-8600.
