Victory, Second Place Finish for Petropoulos at Lanier National Speedway.

(Braselton, GA) August1 18, 2003 - Peter Petropoulos of Flowery Branch, Ga. continued his second-half surge in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series Pro Late Model division at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga. Saturday night with a win and a second-place finish in the track's twin-25 lap features.

The victory was the 25-year old driver's third of 2003. The win was especially huge considering the fact that Battle Paint and Drywall, whose logos adorn the side of Petropoulos' No. 28 Chevrolet, sponsored Saturday night's Fan Appreciation Night at the historic speedway.

"It feels real good," said Petropoulos who also has earned four pole positions at Lanier this season. "There's no better message than to run up front, win the race, and do it on our sponsor's night."

After following Greg Simpson across the line at the conclusion of race one, Petropoulos knew race two was his for the taking as the green flag flew from his pole-position starting position.

"In that second race, I knew when I was warming the tires that the car was going to be right," Petropoulos said.

"We're fortunate to have a good sponsor and we try to keep up with technology to make the car fast. We're out here to win. If we can't win, we're always disappointed."

In addition to running the remaining big events at Lanier in 2003, Petropoulos plans to enter the World Crown 300 at Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, Ga. and the Snowflake Pro Late Model race on the eve of the Snowball Derby in December at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fl.
