Petropoulos Dominates, Wins 100-Lap Late Model Race at Lanier

(Braselton, GA) September 2, 2003 - In front of a huge Labor Day weekend crowd, Peter Petropoulos started on the pole and rolled to his fourth win in 2003 after leading every lap in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Pro Late Model 100 Saturday night at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga. on Aug. 30th.

The 25-year old Flowery Branch, Ga. resident continued his string of impressive finishes with the victory. Petropoulos established a straightaway lead just before halfway. A late caution, however, set up a two-lap dash to the finish. Petropoulos was able to hold track points leader Greg Simpson at bay for the final two circuits.

"We came to win," said Petropoulos. "It was nice to start up front, but I felt like anywhere we started tonight that we had a good enough car to win the race."

With Lanier National Speedway idle on September 6, Petropoulos plans to run that evening at Senoia Speedway which is located just south of Atlanta. He will return to complete the season at Lanier by competing in events at the NASCAR-sanctioned track on September 13, 20, and October 4.

Petropoulos also plans to enter the World Crown 300 at Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, Ga. on September 27. He will likely compete in the Snowflake Late Model race which precedes the Snowball Derby in Pensacola, Fl in December.

"We're going to keep racing all through the end of the year," Petropoulos said. "We're already looking forward to 2004."
